Where I Have Been
You may have noticed the frequency of my posts has really fallen off in the last six months and may be wondering where I’ve been and what I’ve been doing. That is, if anyone still bothers to read this blog. The truth is that I have been as far from canoeing as I have ever been in my life. I have been maintaining my involvement with Canoe09, doing a minimal amount of consultive coaching sessions with some of the Senobe girls and some spectating at CCA, but no training, and no writing about technique.
So here’s whats going on in my life. About a year ago I started back to school, going after an MBA part time at St. Mary’s University. Courses run two nights per week during fall and winter and for three straight days spring and summer. It takes up a lot of free time, free time, that I should be writing about canoe technique.
I also moved into a new place about eight months ago. It was a bit of a fixer upper, so another good chunk of my time resource has gone into that. Factor in the fact that I have been busy enough at work that I don’t have time to spend an hour a day maintaining the site and you can see why things have basically completely frozen up.
You also may have noticed that the comments have been broken for quite some time. I had been getting overrun with porn-spam, so had every comment going through the moderation queue. Couple that with the fact that I only spend an hour a month on the site and the result an almost useless comment system.
So - please do not think I have abandoned this site. I still believe there is a lot of potential in the concept, especially in the user area (that never moved out of beta I might point out). I should probably bite the bullet and pay someone to get it off the ground, but I do still see it as a recreational project for myself, and the last technical outlet I have as my Engineering career moves more and more into a management career. So stay tuned, sign up for the RSS feed and and wait for the new posts to come.
Also, I have had no response to my request for video submissions. If you have a video you would like analyzed on this site, post it to youtube and let me know where to find it.
