Who Am I?
I have been paddling since I was eight years old. I was a member of the National Team from 1988 to 2004. I have won more than 25 gold medals at the Canadian Championships and have been a finalist at eleven World Championships and four Olympic Games.
In 1998 I won Gold at the World Championships in the C-1 1000m event. In 2000 I captured the Olympic Bronze medal at the Sydney Olympics. In Athens I clocked my best time ever, finishing fifth to close out my international career.
I graduated from Dalhousie University with a BSc. In1997 and a BEng in 2002. I am currently working as an Electrical Engineer and Project manger for Eastlink. I live in Dartmouh, NS with my wife Angela and five year old daughter Macy and one year old son Duncan. In 2005 I was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Laws from Dalhousie University, the youngest ever recipient of this honour.
I am one year away from getting an MBA from Saint Mary’s University.
My current involvment in canoeing includes roles such as:
- Part time personal coach for two athletes in Dartmouth
- Some-time motivational speaker for schools and businesses around Halifax and Nova Scotia
